Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, everyone!! Won't 2009 be simply splendid??

We started off the year with 3 feet of snow, which has now melted down to about 11 inches.
As the snow continued to fall, the 'phone rang off the hook, canceling all my plans for the week.
For example, the phone rang, I answered. "Oh, the pool is closed due to snow, so don't come to work? Okay, bye,"

Two minutes later, the phone rang, and again I answered. "Oh, the Christmas party is canceled, due to snow? Okay, bye." An hour later, the phone rang, I answered - and knew before I picked it up that somewhere, something was canceled due to snow. "Hello! Oh, the choir concert and church are canceled due to snow? Okay, bye."
This pattern continued for a couple of days, until one Christmas party, several days of work, church, a Wilderness Northwest meeting, and a choir concert was canceled, while one was still being decided about. What had started out as a horrendously crazy week, quickly turned into a very quiet, stay-at -home week, due to snow. Needless to say, we are all so tired of the snow now! God's creations are always so beautiful, but sometimes he sends a little too much of them. :)
So, the New Year has started out cold, snowy, and a little quiet, but the joy of a fresh New Year is warming our hearts. There is something so exciting about a New year..it's like tomorrow - fresh, with no mistakes in it yet, as Anne of Green Gables would say. :0) Have a wonderful, blessed New Year everyone!!

Love, Brooke

Hi Brooke, I am Hannah, and I was in Tennessee as a "Rubies girl" until Christmas, and I am heading back there tomorrow. I really enjoyed reading your posts about Tennessee. By the way, when I got there, the boys would mix up there names too and it left me quite confused! I wonder if it would be a good idea to have some sort of a blog for Rubies girls,(this was Mrs. Campbell's suggestion), or a blogroll. What do you think? Any suggestions? Blessings.

Yeah, I do know about the Above Rubies Facebook group, and I think I am now on it. Lol. But I imagine there are probably several girls who don't have Facebook. But the blog would probably only be able to be for the girls to write on who are currently at the Campbells, I'm not sure how it would work. Lol.

Dearest Brooke,

Why oh why didn't you tell me that you had a blog?!?!?!?! I really should stop writing you!!! lol :):):) I am on the Internet at least twice a week and I keep up with all my friend's blogs!!!

But thanks to your Mom's letter, I now know and will be here often! :)

I keep thinking I should call you, but then I think that maybe you are too busy to talk, or I forget, and the list of excuses goes on.

The Christmas card and letter arrived. :) And just a reminder, you told me you would write soon when you sent my b-day package, and...well... uh-ummm... :P

Love the blog background! Cute!

Got my mag yet? What did ya think? Please be honest!!!! But you always said I should be an editor, and now I am, much to my great surprise!!!:P I have gotten quite a few subscriptions, but not a lot of submissions. Mostly I have gotten good feedback, but there's always someone who will oppose, which I expected.

So how's school going? Are we still going to graduate at the same time? ;) lol I am 3/4's of the way doen Grade 11, and we have yet to decide what I am doing for Grade 12(or if I am doing it). Dad says we are going to do something special for grad-maybe even a trip to PEI! :) :O As for how I like school this year... it's ...dull. But I make up for the dullness by taking lots of history books out of the library. :) You know me- I love history!

It has been cold here (in the -50's C), but it is warming up now. We have lots of snow!

We're taking a small trip to my aunt's place (in Alberta) tomorrow (for the weekend), but besides that, we really are doing nothing! :O Christmas was crazy, so in a way, the break is nice.

Well I really don't want this to get REAL long, so I will go, and return often enough to keep you updated on the life of Miss Rebekah. :)

Oh-on the web, I am always Bekah. :)

Love ya lots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Brooke!
I have a favor to ask you- would you mind if I published the poems you sent me a year ago in my magazine? They were intitled "A Servant" and " The College Life". You can let me know via here if you want. :) I would dearly love to print them in my mag!!!

Of COURSE you can publish my poems. That's so neat about your magazine..YEA!!! By the way, I really need to write you a letter. Thanks so much for the awesome Christmas letter you sent. You probably think I've totally forgotten you, but I DO think about you all the time, even if I'm not writing. :) Hoping this weekend is open..that would be a good time to write to you a nice long letter..

Well, gotta go to work..children don't like it when the teacher doesn't show up. ;)

Have a really jolly day!

Love Always, Brooke

Hi Brooke,
Hope you're digging out by now. That snow on your home certainly is beautiful, but I know you must be ready for springtime by now.

Thank you for praying for Jase. He's wearing a heart monitor right now and we'll be at the hospital tonight for the results.

Stay warm,
Lea
